Artisan’s found its humble beginnings in 1975 on the enclosed front porch of the Edgewood Inn, adjacent to the charming Peter Christian’s Tavern. Initially Artisan’s Workshop was an “art supply” shop, and over several decades, evolved into a locale where the handcrafts of local and nationally renowned artists could be showcased and purchased.
On April 17, 2008, Artisan’s expanded into its current location at the historic Kidder Building on the corner of Main & Pleasant Streets in New London, NH.
At Artisan’s, there are countless stories behind the art that has made us such a success for nearly four decades. When you walk through our doors, you will encounter a colorful and fun atmosphere, a delightful staff, and a wonderful energy. You’ll enjoy browsing through our diverse and eclectic selection of handcrafted and fine jewelry, pottery, glass, home and garden decor, art and photography, clothing, shoes, and accessories. We also have a colorful children’s area, and a wonderful selection of books by local authors. We are delighted to promote a local community of artists, as well as those throughout the USA, and throughout Europe and beyond. Artisan’s also supports fair trade and green practices.
You can find us easily by our trademark brightly painted Adirondack chairs, and we invite you to come in and “play” and learn many of the stories behind the art and work that make Artisan’s the destination that it has become. Or, simply take a seat on one of our Adirondack chairs with a good cup of tea, watching the town of New London unfold and come to life in this beautiful Main Street community.
